Scrabble Tile Ornaments – Fun And Easy Holiday Craft

The great part about Christmas is that it’s a time when homemade things just start to happen. We’re all guilty of it, right? We talk about how we want to make things all year long and then suddenly, the year is almost over and we haven’t done any of it.

But when it comes to the holidays, there tends to be a time when things slow down and the creative juices start to flow. This means that if you’re wanting to make an ornament for yourself or for your family and friends, this is one of the easiest ways to make it happen.

Supplies needed to make these homemade Christmas ornaments

  • Scrabble Tiles
  • Twine
  • Holiday greenery
  • Glue gun, super glue, school glue, or Tacky glue
  • Scissors

How to make Scrabble Tile Ornaments

Once you choose your word(s), it’s time to glue on your Scrabble tiles. You want to attach them
side by side, working from left to right. Be certain to be patient to let the glue dry.

After the tiles are dry and glued together, you can then start to connect them vertically as well. Again, let them dry completely.

Next, it’s time to glue on your embellishments. Have fun and choose what you’d like to use here.

Then, cut the twine to a good length to be able to hang the ornament. Glue it on the back to secure. Allow drying completely before you hang.

See how simple and easy that is? All this time you’ve been buying ornaments at the store and you could have been making them at home instead!

Fun Words To Spell Out for Holiday Ornaments

There are so many words and phrases that you can spell out! Some of them could be:

  • Noel
  • Joy
  • Joy to the World
  • Merry Christmas
  • Merry Xmas
  • Santa
  • Rudolph

Or you could even go funny and have some of your favorite quotes from your favorite holiday movies, too.

  • You’ll shoot your eye out!
  • Keep the change – ya filthy animal!
  • Fragile!

And the list could go on and on. The longer phrases could be a little more difficult to do but are still a festive and fun idea.

Where to buy or find Scrabble Tiles

If you don’t have an old game of Scrabble just sitting around the house, don’t worry. You can purchase the tiles online as well. They’re super simple to find an affordable and also mean that you’ll be able to create quite a few ornaments with just one purchase.

I have also seen letter tiles at craft stores which could work too.

A few pictures to help.

Gather your supplies – great way to use up your craft stash.

Decide on word and placement.

Embellish.

Add twine.

Make certain to have fun with this activity and be as creative as you want. The more Scrabble ornaments

that you can create, the more unique your Christmas tree will be!

Another idea, these could make mini-signs for around the house t any time of the year.

Thanks for stopping by as we talk all things home and travel. I was doing “DIY” before it was the thing to do. I was born in a big city and lived on farms growing up in small towns. Now I live in what some would consider a moderately big city. I still enjoy the common things associated with a home, mainly cooking and decorating, but always make time for travel. Maybe it’s finding something fun in my hometown, or exploring new places on a road trip or cruise. Please pull up a chair, have a cup of coffee, and let’s talk about it. Read more
