Going Silver – My Favorite Spray Paints
Many of you know I love spray paint – I’ve almost had a motto of “give me a can of spray paint, and I can change the world”.
Although brass is making a comeback, I haven’t got onboard yet with it again. I lived with it through the 80’s so I’m a silver girl for now.
I have 2 favorite at the moment – both by Krylon. Have you tried these?
Looking Glass Mirror-Like Paint has been around for a while and is great to give you a very shiny, mirror look.
One of my favorite things is to use it with just a little water sprayed on it to give it a mercury glass affect. I love mercury glass but it can be so expensive.
I recently broke a silver candlestick from Ikea but didn’t throw it away. Just had to figure out what to do with it.
By turning it upside down with the broken part on top, I could make a candle or cake stand out of it.

I used a candle holder plate from Dollar Tree (one of my favorite stores).
I spray painted it with the Looking Glass paint, sprayed just a little water on it and now I have a top for my broken candle holder. (It is silver – there was a glare that made a gold tone). Don’t you love my fancy way to spray paint. Old tin cans and vinyl tablecloths purchased after the holidays or at yard sales.

My finished cake stand or candle holder. Please note – never let food touch any painted surface. You can place a napkin or doily under it for safety.
Another little project I did recently was painting this Dollar Tree ceramic pumpkin (sorry no before pic).
Don’t you just love how a few coats of spray paint can make such a difference?
I’m not sure if this is a new color, but Krylon has recently add MAXX ultimate coverage to their lines of paint. As I love silver, I saw Metallic in it and thought I would give it a try.
This is a before and after of a set of bookends I had purchased at some point for I’m sure not too much money. The dark finish wasn’t showing in my bookcase so, you know me, I brought out the spray paint. Great time to try this new Metallic and so happy with results.

Spray paint is one of my best friends. I’ll paint anything that stands still long enough. I haven’t tried the looking glass, but I will. I love how your cake stand turned out. Beautiful!
Thanks. I have always been a spray paint hoarder and like you, always look at things to paint. Some things have multiple coats. That’s what makes spray painting so easy.

I love spray paint, too- such an easy way to spruce up an old piece! I’ve transformed a number of thrifted finds using just a can of spray paint! Oh, and I love the looking glass spray paint, too!

Easiest way to make a change is spray paint. Silver is my favorite metallic paint – always thinking of things to paint.
It’s so crazy what a can of spray paint can do for something. I need to start spray painting. I found something super cute at Target the other day and I was like, all I need now is a spray can of gold paint, and I’m … golden (hah!) lol…
The small can (same size as looking glass) of Krylon gold is good. I used it to spray paint a record for my husband to look like a gold record. He’s a record collector so we were doing some decorating in his room. Wasn’t too brassy looking as some gold paints are.
I like spray paint as well but have yet to see the glass shaded paint. This looks like something that would work well using it for teacher’s holiday gifts. I will have to think of something good this year
Most any place which sells Krylon paint should have it. I think I usually get mine at Hobby Lobby so I can use a coupon. Hope you try it.
Christmas and Thanksgiving bring out the silver and gold spray paint at our house. Candles, pine cones, plates, you name it, we spray it. A simple coat of paint can change the entire appearance and purpose of an object. Thanks for sharing.

Both effects on the spray paint looks cool. It can really give you the silver and the glassy look on your stuff.
