How To Make The Perfect Arnold Palmer Cocktail
Have you heard of an Arnold Palmer? No not the golfer Arnold Palmer, who I like to refer to as Uncle Arnie – I wish. I’m referring to his favorite drink – half iced tea and half lemonade. Here’s How To Make The Perfect Arnold Palmer Cocktail
Are there any food or drinks with your name attached?
This has always been a favorite around our house, and you should try it if you haven’t. But I’m taking it up a notch by making it into a cocktail. I’m thinking it would be perfect for sipping on the patio in warmer weather, or maybe make a pitcher full for watching The Masters in this weekend.
The story goes Arnold Palmer had been drinking the mixture of iced tea and lemonade for years. One hot day after golfing, he ordered this mixture, and someone overheard it and said, “I’ll have that Arnold Palmer”. I couldn’t find out if it was made with sweet or unsweet tea though. He later started selling this mixture but most everyone makes it themselves since it’s such an easy drink.
Are you a sweet or unsweet tea person? Maybe the farther South you live, the sweeter you like it.
If you like sweet tea, you will want to use sweetened, but for a bit more taste of the bourbon or whiskey, try unsweetened first. The taste is totally up to you.
For a fun and casual look, serve it up in mason jars.
Which type of Bourbon or Whiskey to use is just your preference. Being in Tennessee, Jack Daniels is always a good choice.
Did you know all bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon? It all has to do with how much corn or grain is used, what type of barrel it’s aged in, and where it’s made.
How To Make The Perfect Arnold Palmer Cocktail
Ingredients:
- 4 Ounces Unsweetened Tea – fresh brewed is best
- 2 Ounces Lemonade – homemade or mix (Country Time is good)
- 2 Ounces Bourbon or Whiskey
- Ice
- Mint leaf – to garnish
To Prepare:
- Fill your glass about halfway with ice
- Measure and pour in your lemonade, whiskey, then your tea.
- Stir
- Add a straw then a sprig of mint for garnish
A few hints:
Mix all the ingredients, including ice, in a shaker. This gets it colder quicker.
Make a pitcher full for a crowd for easier serving.
Did you notice the customized glass and serving board? These can be made with almost any city and college town. I think this would make a perfect house warming or graduation gift. Check out all WELL TOLD DESIGNS have to offer.
I am also loving the use of stainless steel straws. I even carry a few with me on my travels as sometimes places are out, or it’s the paper straws which I’m not a fan of.

That looks so refreshing, thanks for sharing.
Thanks – I’ll hope you try it.
I have made this a few times myself but I never actually used a recipe. I just poured the two drinks together. I will have to try it again using an actual recipe! I bet it is even more delicious if it is prepared with the proper proportions! thanks for sharing!
Most of the time we don’t measure much either. Hope you enjoy it.
