Frozen Strawberry Margaritas

Once the summer heat hits, having a frozen drink recipe in hand is almost mandatory. There’s nothing quite like sipping away the heat of the day and just putting up your feet to relax.

I’ve found that when I do this, I can easily take away the stresses of the day in a way that calms my worries, too. Summers here get REALLY hot so a frozen drink recipe truly is worth its weight in gold.

If you’re ready to have a margarita drink recipe on hand that makes for the perfect drink to share with family and friends, this is the one you need. After all – it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere!

Let me know what you think of this easy drink recipe! It’s one of my favorites!

Ingredients needed to make Frozen Margarita with Strawberries

  • 1 16-oz. bag frozen strawberries
  • ¼ c. fresh lime juice (2 large limes)
  • 4 oz. white tequila
  • 2 oz. orange-flavored liqueur, such as Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • Lime wheels and whole fresh strawberries, to garnish

Optional:

  • Ice or water, if needed, to adjust consistency after blending
  • Coarse sugar and lime wedges to coat glass rim

How to make Frozen Strawberry Margaritas

  • Place half the frozen strawberries into a high-powered blender. Add lime juice, tequila, and orange-flavored liquor. Cover and blend on highest setting until smooth, approximately 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove vent cap on blender lid and add the remaining frozen strawberries one at a time while the blender is still running. Continue blending until all strawberries have been added and the mixture is completely smooth.

Note: For thicker margaritas, add some ice until desired consistency is reached. For a thinner consistency, add a little water.
  • Pour into serving glasses and garnish with lime wheels and/or fresh strawberries right before serving. Enjoy!

Tip: If desired, rub a lime wedge along the top of each glass and dip into a shallow bowl filled with some coarse sugar before filling.

Optional:

  • Ice or water, if needed, to adjust consistency after blending

How to make a strawberry mocktail:

Prepare as described for the cocktail version, but replace the ingredients described in Step #1 with those listed here.

Can you use fresh strawberries for this recipe?

You can! I love to use strawberries during the summer months because of their sweet taste and flavor.

Fresh strawberries add a natural sweetness that really takes on a great taste. You can add more ice or other ingredients to give it that slushy flavoring easily.

You can also put fresh strawberries into the freezer to make frozen strawberries as well. This means that you don’t have to buy them already frozen from the store but you can make them that way quickly.
