Spicy Peach Salsa

This recipe for peach salsa is the best. I canโ€™t even begin to put into words the flavor of this simple salsa recipe. Thereโ€™s a reason that itโ€™s my go-to salsa dish time and time again. In the summer months, when grilling out is more popular, this can elevate those quick meals from plain chicken, to a full meal.

And when the peaches are nice and fresh, you know that theyโ€™re a must to make! You just need to be certain to remove the pits and chop them into small pieces so that they make that delicious salsa texture.

Ingredients needed to make Spicy Peach Salsa

All you need are the following ingredients to make this simple salsa recipe. It couldnโ€™t be more simple!

  • 6 fresh peaches, pits removed and cut into small pieces
  • 3 T. fresh lime juice
  • 1 medium shallot, minced
  • 3 T. red onion, cut into small, thin slices, or chopped
  • 1-2 t. jalapeno peppers, seeds, and veins removed, and very finely minced โ€“ optional for me
  • 3 T. fresh cilantro leaves, finely chopped
  • Sea salt, to taste

How to make Homemade Salsa with Peaches:

Combine all ingredients in a large glass or other non-reactive bowls. Season with salt, to taste, and stir to combine.

Cover with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator overnight or on the counter at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.

If I have made it up ahead of time, I will let it โ€œwarm upโ€ maybe about 30 minutes so itโ€™s not so cold.

How do you store leftover salsa?

The biggest thing to keep in mind when storing salsa is that it needs to be in an airtight container to stay nice and fresh.  I like using glass bowls or a mason jar to store items in the refrigerator.

Check out some of my favorite glass storage containers below.

Can you use frozen peaches for this salsa recipe?

I wouldnโ€™t. I think that fresh peaches are key to making this delicious salsa recipe. Frozen peaches might be a bit handier but theyโ€™re going to end up defrosting over time and will have liquid happening making your salsa very watery and not good at all.

If you just have to make it and only have frozen on hand, let them thaw completely and let them drain in a colander to let the excess water from freezing drain off.

Is this salsa recipe spicy?

That all just depends on if the jalapenos that youโ€™re adding are spicy. I always recommend just adding in a little bit of the jalapenos at a time to start off with because you can always increase them as you go. This keeps the dish manageable for everyone eating it and if someone wants to make it super spicy then they can do that to their own little bowl.

You know Iโ€™m not much on heat, but a little does enhance the flavor.  Most of the time, there are two bowls of salsa at my house, one for me, one for the guys.

Have fun making up this delicious peach salsa! Itโ€™s really flavorful and simple to make!
