Spicy Mango Salsa Isn’t Just For Tacos

Sharing is caring!

Isn’t homemade salsa the best? I’m pretty much obsessed with using salsa on as many dishes as possible. And this Spicy Mango Salsa Isn’t Just For Tacos is one of my latest and greatest obsessions. It’s unlike the traditional salsa recipes out there that focus on just the heat….this DIY salsa recipe still has a bit of heat but also adds in the sweet, too!

This mango salsa would be a great appetizer to start any meal! Grab the crackers or pair this up with fish and you’ve got quite the winning recipe on your hands. You can also add this to my Caribbean Jerk Pork Nachos recipe as well!

But at this time of year – think about all of that turkey.  I love a fruity topping with turkey.

If you’re a fan of mangos, there’s not going to be denying the flavor of this salsa recipe. And once you combine it with the bell pepper, the onion, and the jalapeno, there really isn’t any reason that you’re not going to love this dish.

I’m also a big fan of getting fresh cilantro for salsa as well because it just reminds me of summer. And when the weather is starting to turn cold, it’s fun to have a salsa recipe that just tastes like warmth! If you’re lucky enough to be able to grow your own herbs, make certain that you plant cilantro because it’s such a flavor enhancer for so many dishes.

If you have 10 minutes of time, you have time to make this simple salsa recipe. It’s just that simple and easy to do!

Spicy Mango Salsa Ingredients

2 medium mangos, peeled and chopped small
1 medium red bell pepper, chopped small
½ medium red onion, diced small
½ medium jalapeño, finely minced
3 T. fresh cilantro, finely chopped
2 T. fresh lime juice
Sea salt and black pepper, to taste

How to Make Spicy Mango Salsa

Combine mango, bell pepper, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and fresh lime juice in a medium glass or other non-reactive bowl. Season with salt and black pepper, to taste, and stir to combine.

Remember too, if you are like me and don’t like the heat from the jalepenos, just decrease the amount or leave out.

Serve immediately or cover and place in the refrigerator until ready to use. Enjoy!

What do you serve with mango salsa?

Chips and crackers are always a winning choice. You can also use this as a topping for salads, fish dishes, and chicken (and turkey) recipes as well.

How do you know when a mango is ripe?

The easiest way to tell if a mango is ripe is to look at the color of the skin. If the mango is still green, it’s not ripe or ready to eat. However, if it’s a red, purple, and yellow color, this is a good indicator that the mango is ripe and ready to enjoy.

You can also try the sniff taste and see if you smell sweetness near the end of the stem. If you do, that is another key indicator that the mango is ripe and ready to enjoy.

Are you ready to learn how to make this simple salsa recipe? It’s a great tasting dish with so much flavor!
