Sugar Cone Christmas Tree Cupcake Topper

I’m always looking for something fun and delicious to have on the dessert table this time of year. What I love about this simple recipe is that you can make homemade cupcakes if you want or buy some that are already premade at the store.

I like to get them already baked and ready as it just saves so much time! You can pick any flavor of cupcake that you want and change it up!

My Favorite BUTTERCREAM FROSTING is so good.  You will want to make this a bit stiffer than the normal recipe.

A little note here – you do want the frosting a bit stiffer so it will hold the star shape.  Softer frosting won’t.

Can you use other types of cones for this fun recipe?

Sugar cones are really what you need because of the way that they’re pointed. The other cones have square bottoms to them which isn’t going to work.

Can I add fun decorations to the Christmas tree?

You can add and do anything that you want! I like to add sprinkles because they’re easy to add but you can add on decorative balls as well. If you can get them to stick, you’re good to go!

A few hints and ideas

You can always frost the cupcakes with a knife or a off-set spatula.  If I’m doing a large batch, I find it easier to use a pastry bag and tip.

A little note here – you do want the frosting a bit stiffer so it will hold the star shape.  Softer frosting won’t.

Frost the cupcake with green then pipe a white tree for a true snowy look.

White sanding sugar could also be used or mixed with white sprinkles for the snow effect.

Short on time?  Buy premade cupcakes then decorate.

These “trees” could even top a cake.

Invest in a pastry bag and basic tips.  You will love using them.

Fun Ways To Share These Decorated Cupcakes

These are really fun to make and are a great way to bring holiday cheer to others. While you can easily make these and keep them at home, don’t forget to spread the holiday cheer as well!

The best way to share these with family and friends is to find a cute box that is big enough to hold them in. You can make them and then deliver them and watch their faces light up with joy!

Another fun idea is to start a new family tradition where everyone gathers and makes these cupcakes together. This can be a bright start in the holiday season that all can look forward to!
