Cranberry Moscow Mule – Holiday Version

What I love most about this tasty recipe is that it’s packed full of vodka and ginger beer. There’s something about those two that go so well together, time and time again. And when you pair it up with cranberry juice and fresh lime, it’s certain to be a winner.

Why is it called the Moscow Mule?

This name comes from two totally different things. The Moscow portion comes from Russia since they like vodka and the mule portion of this drink comes from the fact that it has a “kick”, often like one that a mule would do.

Do you have to use copper mugs for Moscow Mules?

While it’s not a legit rule, it’s the perfect type of mug that works best. It also is a pretty big indicator to others what you’re drinking if they see you sipping out of a copper mug.

And copper is so pretty, especially if you are sharing a picture.

Ready to learn how to make this simple drink?

Ingredients needed for a Cranberry Moscow Mule

  • 5 ounces of premium vodka
  • 2 ounces of 100% cranberry juice
  • 2 Tablespoons of fresh lime juice
  • 12 ounces of ginger beer

    Garnish: (optional)
  • fresh rosemary sprigs, bottom leaves removed, approximately 2-3” long
  • fresh cranberries
  • fresh lime wedges

How to make a Cranberry Moscow Mule

  1. To make cranberry sprig garnish, carefully thread 3 fresh cranberries onto the bottom of each rosemary stem.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add vodka, cranberry juice, and lime juice. Shake well and pour into ice-filled copper mugs. Top off mug with ginger beer and stir to combine.
  3. Garnish with rosemary sprigs and lime wedges, if desired, before serving. Enjoy!

While this is a great drink to enjoy on your own, you can easily make it up and share it with your family and friends. Have fun with the other adults in your life and make up this easy drink recipe. It’s really quite simple to do.

Thanks for stopping by as we talk all things home and travel. I was doing “DIY” before it was the thing to do. I was born in a big city and lived on farms growing up in small towns. Now I live in what some would consider a moderately big city. I still enjoy the common things associated with a home, mainly cooking and decorating, but always make time for travel. Maybe it’s finding something fun in my hometown, or exploring new places on a road trip or cruise. Please pull up a chair, have a cup of coffee, and let’s talk about it. Read more
