Easy 5-Minute Recipe: The Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Milkshake
As you find Christmas décor out earlier each year, one of the most anticipated releases for Christmas is the Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake. These have almost taken on their own following over social media, and why not? Great recipes come from them too such as the Easy 5-Minute Recipe: The Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Milkshake.
While you can find these at many specialty ice cream sHOPS, some with an expensive price tag, make yours at home. You already have Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes at home, right? And my favorite Vanilla Ice Cream to use is Mayfield. If it’s not in your area, I’m sorry. It’s the best.

A Few Simple Ingredients
- 3 Christmas Tree Cakes, save one for the topping
- 3 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- Vanilla or buttercream frosting – make your own or use store bought
- Red and green sprinkles, for the rim
- 1 cup Cool whip, in a piping bag with a star tip

How to Make a Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Milkshake
- For the rim, use a butter knife to add a ring of frosting around the rim of your glass.
- Dip or roll the rim into the sprinkles to coat.
- For the shake:
- Combine ice cream, milk, and 2 Christmas Tree cakes to a blender.
- Blend until smooth.
- If needed, add a little extra milk to thin the shake, or ice cream to thicken to your desired consistency.
- Top the shake with cool whip, sprinkles, and a Christmas Tree cake.
- Insert straw and enjoy.

Hints and tips:
Make sure to have your glass ready for your shake ahead of time
Make your own buttercream frosting – my favorite recipe HERE
Make your own whipping cream for a fresher taste
No piping bag – no problem – use a zip lock bag and cut off a small corner
Make the rim of frosting as far down on the glass as you like
A small skewer can be inserted into the cake to make it stand up better

What About a Chocolate Version?
You could substiture a chocolate cake instead of the traditional vanilla version or for even more chocolate taste, use chocolate ice cream. And to make it a triple threat, use chocolate frosting.
A Little History of The Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake
Although we think its been around forever, it was first introduced in 1985, but it has changed a bit over the years. The original was a triangular shape with a chocolate trunk.
What we know now with the classic scalloped tree shape was introduced until 2012.
A chocolate version was also introduced a few years later.
Some of the other popular Little Debbie Christmas Snacks include:
- Christmas Tree Cake Donuts (Mini yellow cake donuts)
- Christmas Tree Brownies (Brownie cut into a tree shape with green icing)
- Snowflake Brownies (Hexagonal brownies with white snowflake-themed icing)
- Christmas Mini Muffins (Vanilla mini muffins with red and green sprinkles)
- Gingerbread Cookies (Soft, individual gingerbread men cookies)
- North Pole Nutty Buddy (Nutty Buddy wafers covered in white fudge with a red stripe)
- Christmas Cherry Cordials (Vanilla cookie sandwich with cherry creme, covered in “chocolaty” coating)
You may not be able to find all of these treats every year, or in your local area.
Little Debbie Park
Did you know there’s a Little Debbie Park? There sure is just up the road from Chattanooga in Collegedale, TN – home to McKee Bakery, the original home to Little Debbie.
Live in the area – a perfect spot for Christmas photos.
And yes, there is a real Little Debbie.
