Whistlestop Manor: A Sweetwater Escape
If you are looking for a unique stay in the Sweetwater and East Tennessee area, look no further than Whistlestop Manor: A Sweetwater Escape. Conveniently located between Chattanooga and Knoxville, it’s a great base for a few nights while exploring the area.
This historic home built I 1859, you feel like you are staying in someone’s home, which you are. It’s the perfect place for a few days or a romantic weekend getaway.
Whistlestop Manor: A Sweetwater Escape
How many of you travel on I-75 and see the Sweetwater exit sign? Have you ever stopped? As I’m on a journey to visit every county in Tennessee, Sweetwater is a lovely town to spend some time around the area. Staying at Whistlestop Manor adds to your great experience.
We met the owner, and she was a wealth of information about the area with favorite restaurants downtown and attractions to see. Giving us a tour of this 1859 home, saying the family did live upstairs. We met one son the next morning as he was taking care of the dog, but you would never know three kids lived there. That also adds a level of security to your stay.
Staying at Whistlestop Manor
We love a great B & B for a little of that homey touch to a stay. Sure it’s easy to check in and out of a hotel, but when you can walk through a beautiful yard area for a little bit of calm, it’s great. Take a cup of coffee outside first thing to enjoy a little nature, but you might hear a train in the background – hence the name of Whistlestop.
Our room was large with its own bathroom, which all suites have. There was an extra twin bed in the room so if you had an extra person. Lots of room was available for relaxing after a full day of travel or sightseeing.
With a 2-night minimum, maybe you are heading up to a UT game – works out perfect – stay the night before then head back to the Whistlestop Manor for a great rest, before heading home.
Just visiting the area, or making a stop on a road trip, it’s a great area to explore then know you will have a clean and comfy bed at night plus that home feel.
Having Fun at Whistlestop Manor
One of the interesting spots was the costume room for their murder mystery events. You do not have to be a guest to attend an event at Whistlestop Manor.
You can hold your own special events such as bridal showers or a tea, plus they offer a lot of special events such as wreath making or baking classes. Follow them on FACEBOOK to keep up with any upcoming events. See something you want to attend – make your reservations ASAP as they usually have a limited attendance and sell out quickly.
Looks like there might be some fun Halloween events coming up, so check it out.
Hold a private party, corporate event, or a family reunion at Whistlestop Manor.
Whistlestop Manor
This unique place to stay is full of beautiful antiques and a few quirky décor items. The owner, who has operated it for about three years, can tell you stories about most of them which she has acquired or even a few which former guests have given her.
This light fixture was a recent find at an estate sale.
The owner is very conscious of your needs – what do you like for breakfast such as pro bacon – yes, for sure, are you a coffee drinker, offering a beer if you like, and letting you know the Whistlestop Manor is your home during the stay.
We were the only guests when we were there so we could explore a bit more, sit in the large parlor to enjoy our coffee or read a book, or as we love antiques, spending time looking at these.
Reservations
Reservations are not available online so give them a call or complete the online form and they will promptly get back to you. You can book your stay with or without breakfast. But I highly recommend this breakfast to fuel you up for your day ahead.
This plate was full and delicious. And yes, there was bacon.
