Buying a Turkey Breast
You will find a few different types including a whole turkey breast which includes skin and a bone. Also popular is a boneless turkey breast, with or without skin and also a turkey tenderloin, which is usually skinless and boneless. Any of these will work just fine. Most turkey breasts are sold frozen, so follow thawing directions on the package.
Ingredients needed to make Slow Cooker Turkey Breast
All you need are the following ingredients to cook turkey in the slow cooker. Get ready to love this recipe โ itโs so simple to make!
- 3 โ 5 lbs. turkey breast โ thawed
- 1 C. Chicken broth
- 4 Tbsp. Butter softened
- ยฝ Onion thinly sliced
- 2 Tbsp. Olive oil
- 2 tsp. Poultry seasoning
- 1 tsp. Ground sage
- 1 tsp. Dried rosemary
- 1 tsp. Ground thyme
- 3 tsp. Minced garlic
- ยผ tsp. Dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
How to cook turkey breast in the slow cooker
Youโll love the tenderness and flavor of this turkey recipe. Plus it frees up the oven for all the other delicious dishes and desserts you are preparing.
Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the slow cooker.
Add the onions into the slow cooker.
Top the onions and broth with the turkey breast.
Peel the skin back from the turkey breast and spread the butter underneath.
Drizzle the turkey breast with the olive oil.
Sprinkle the seasonings, minced garlic and salt and pepper to taste over the turkey breast and spread them on evenly with your hands to make sure both sides are coated.
Cover, and cook on low for 5 hours.
Remove the turkey breast, and place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Place the turkey breasts under the broiler in the oven for a few minutes to crisp up and brown the skin โ if desired.**
Let stand for about 15 minutes for juices to absorb, then slice and serve.

Add heat โ If you want to make it spicy, add some red pepper flakes or some chili powder to the mixture. But be careful, this will make it hot quickly!
