I don’t have time – who says this? (Hand raised) Well if you say I don’t have time – you might, just find it.
We all have 24 hours in a day and how we choose to use it determines what we actually get done. Some may have limits on their time such as a 9 – 5 job, commute time, kids activities, and other family priorities but finding those few minutes can make all the difference. Multi-tasking has been a catch phrase around for a while. Many things needs your undivided attention, but think about while sitting in the doctors office or car pool line, what could get done. Even reading that book you say you don’t have time to do.
But do you have time wasters? (Again hand raised)
Some of mine are:
TV
Checking phone, Facebook and other social media too often
More planning than doing
Playing with new apps or games on phone
“I’ll do it later”
How do you waste time??????
Where can you find time to do things?
Did you know you can almost unload the dishwasher while coffee is being made? Try to run it the night before, then unload it first thing. As your day goes along, it’s easy to put dirty dishes in the dishwasher and not let them pile up in the sink.
If watching TV, don’t watch commercials. Do something.
As once said,
I heard that once and it’s always stuck with me.
Even while watching some of your favorite shows, here’s a few things to keep in mind.
On your laptop:
make your shopping list
go through old emails
answer emails
organize and edit pictures
check your calendar
On your phone
Organize pictures
Delete apps not used
Do updates
Make some lists of jobs to be done. What will take only 5 or 10 minutes?
Go through old mail
Pay a bill
Make a phone call
Put in a load of laundry
Unload or load dishwasher
Take out the trash
Another way – although maybe not the most popular – get up a little earlier. Think about those jobs that only take 5 – 10 minutes, think about how many you could get done without any interruptions first thing of the morning.
Maybe this would be a great time too if you want to expand on your personal time. Reading a book, doing a bible study, doing an on-line course.
Getting up just 12 minutes earlier each day gives you an extra hour of time in the week. Would you really miss that 12 minutes of sleep?
If there’s always a hustle and bustle in the morning, this 12 minutes of quite time can be a refreshing start to the day.
You will see a lot more posts this year about as my husband says “get your act together” as in more planning, decluttering, and organizing.
Feel free to always give me your best hints and tips and I’ll do a round up of them.
I’ve included affiliate links to Amazon for you to find some products easier. I may receive a small commission, but the price is the same for you. It just helps my blog out.
Simple Cedar Chest Makeover This isn’t my old cedar chest anymore. I like to call things which I’ve had for a long time, vintage instead of old. It doesn’t make me sound as old in my head. Well, this vintage cedar chest was bought in the little town of O’Kean, Arkansas when I was a senior…
It’s that time of year – a new year – a new you. Maybe not completely new, but a chance to start fresh or have a re-do from 2024. Like many, I’m not big into resolutions, but having goals and plans for the year. Getting organized and losing weight is usually at the top of…
Who knew I would be able to make my $7 entertainment center and love it so much. To start, find an old dresser – easier said than done. Well, sometimes. This time it was pretty easy and so happy with my final results. I thought I would share this again as it will soon have…
Share A Snowy Gift With The Neighbors as many are seeing snow in a very unusual way. As many of us are having winter weather, some so much worse than others, here’s a quick little project you can do for your neighbors. This was originally posted a few years ago in our former home. Our…
What is better than that first cup of coffee in the morning? The perfect flavor, the right amount of sugar, and one of my addictions – Cafely’s liquid creamers. A few weeks ago I realized how many coffee grounds I was throwing away and decided there had to be good use for them. Or, was…
Doing things new on your own can be scary, but I’m usually pretty brave and willing to give most things a try. This was the case of attending Haven back in 2012 – the very first year. Step out. Being Brave – Attending a Blogger Conference on Your Own Haven is a DIY-blogging conference…
