I think that needs to change. With so many opportunities for exploring the great outdoors, getting a look at the regionโs past, enjoying great food and music, taking in live music at festivals, and so much more, if North Alabama isnโt on your domestic travel radar, it should be.

North Alabama has a long, rich history of music, science, culture, food, and so much more, and itโs all on full display no matter where you look!
A great advantage for me, itโs so close to the Chattanooga area. We are within a few hours to many attractions and cities such as Muscle Shoals, Huntsville, and Cullman. So many great areas to explore. This also could include those in the Nashville and Atlanta areas.
Things to Do in North Alabama
This area of the South is known for its natural beauty, with gorgeous natural wonders like waterfalls, rivers, creeks, lakes, and caves, all offering a new experience with every step you take and offering a wide variety of things to do for outdoor enthusiasts like hunting, fishing, boating, and hiking, just to name a few. Explore the outdoors in this region, and youโll find natural wonders like the Dismals Canyon, Natural Bridge, and Cathedral Caverns, all offering a unique natural beauty all their own.
In addition to its natural beauty, North Alabama has a rich musical history as well. In fact, it has long been an internationally acclaimed music mecca for artists from all parts of the world and all genres. Home of Muscle Shoals Sound, where chart-toppers like Cher, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, and Lynyrd Skynyrd recorded. In addition to this famous studio, the region is also home to the equally iconic FAME and Cypress Moon Studios. Youโll also be able to experience the world-famous W.C. Handy Music Festival in Florence, Alabama. The fest is named for the musician and composer known as the โFather of the Bluesโ, W. C. Handy who was born in Florence in 1873.
The area is also just as rich in history as it is in music and natural beauty. Combine history and the great outdoors by hiking The Hallelujah Trail, featuring 32 churches over 100 years old, or try the Agriculture Adventure Trail, which celebrates the rich history and culture of farming, which still sustains so much of the region. While in the area, be sure to tour W.C. Handyโs Log House Museum in Lauderdale County, along with sites like the Helen Keller Birthplace, Jesse Owens Museum, and the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, to name a few. Youโll also find the U.S. Space and Rocker Center in Huntsville, where the rockets for the Apollo mission were originally developed.
