About The Wizard of Oz Museum

Located in Cape Canaveral, Florida, The Wizard of Oz Museum is a living, breathing love letter to the classic tale of Dorothy and her journey through Oz. Founded by Fed and Palina Trust, collectors of Oz memorabilia for over 35 years, the museum takes their life-long love of the magical world of Oz and brings it to the masses with a huge collection of items ranging from props to clothing and much more.

Although the museum has only been open for a few years, itโ€™s already garnered much media attention and has quickly become a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting the Cape Canaveral area. Every year, it attracts Oz lovers from around the world who come to experience its vast collection of artifacts. A collection that continues to expand.

If you are visiting the Space Coast area, whether maybe taking a cruise or visiting Kennedy Space Center, add this to you itinerary for a little more fun.

Featuring items related to the book series, the classic film, and the Broadway hit Wicked, The Wizard of Oz Museum focuses on raising awareness of the cultural history of the Oz universe to everyone. As the first American fairy tale, the book and its subsequent films and musicals have touched the hearts of so many, and through exhibits, artifacts, and memorabilia, the museum aims to touch even more hearts around the world.

Collections and Exhibits

The Wizard of Oz Museum is an experience like no other for both long-time fans and newcomers alike. A host of shelves lines the walls of the museum, filled to capacity with artifacts and memorabilia related to the magical world of Oz. There, youโ€™ll find an original Winkies guard spear, signatures of the 1939 filmโ€™s cast, Judy Garlandโ€™s original fur coat, a life-size gatekeeper, a wide variety of Munchkins memorabilia, and even life-sized flying monkies.

In addition to physical artifacts of all shapes and sizes, the museum also embraced technology to help it tell the story of the wonderful world of Oz. Using immersive technology, the museum creates realistic digital landscapes of the fantasy world, allowing visitors to feel like theyโ€™re right there in Oz. Through engaging visuals and vivid landscape backdrops, visitors are treated to the world of Oz in an entirely new way, experiencing the famed world like never before. All major scenes are represented, from Dorothyโ€™s trip to Oz in a tornado to her final heel-clicking return home.

Like many popular movies, you can find almost anything which was made to promote the movie even years after the release.

The Book Which Started it All

I wasnโ€™t aware until I visited the Wizard of Oz Museum that there were so many books in the series.  You could purchase several of these, with a price, of these older books.

A Few of My Favorite Things

I remember watching this movie when I was young and the scariest part for me was those flying monkeys.

Many of the items on exhibit do have a Certificate of Authenticity which means many were used on the movie or by the stars.

This mink coat belonged to Judy Garland.  Notice her initials embroidered inside the coat.

The Ruby Slippers

There were two pairs on display, one used in the movie, and another was just a prop.  The real ones are pictured above.

An Immersive Aspect with Van Gogh

Not only do you walk through the museum to view all the great collectibles, but you can feel like you are walking down the Yellow Brick Road.  A little warning โ€“ if you have trouble with movement, like me, you may want to skip this.
