Grab your camera
OK – it’s a new day, a new year, a new chapter in your life ready to be written. I saw several pictures yesterday and posts on Facebook about 2014 being a blank book, just waiting to be written. Think about it being a blank photo album waiting to be filled with everyday photos, not just those you take on special occasions.
Almost everyone has a camera you love to use but then again who doesn’t have a phone with a camera these days. I’m still old school and love my camera but when you do want to snap a quick picture, grab your phone. I can remember many times in the past thinking “I wish I had my camera with me”. That doesn’t have to happen now.
This is my camera of choice. Although, it ‘s a great camera, I’m so tech challenged I still use it almost as a point and shoot. Maybe that should be a resolution for me – learn to use my camera.
There are lots of ideas and groups around for taking a picture everyday to document your life.
365 Project is a great site to join in (Free) to follow along others, get ideas on pictures, and discuss this project with others. Go here to sign up now. http://365project.org
If you want to try a photo challenge, here’s a great one. http://captureyour365.com It actually gives you a list of pictures for every day of the month. Would you have ever thought of any of these on your own?
How often do you actually get a picture of yourself? Of course since a selfie has become an actual word, it’s easier to be in a picture. I remember looking back at vacation pictures and maybe I would be in one in about every 25 or so. I was always behind the camera.
Go out today and grab your camera and start snapping. But don’t stop there. Don’t leave these in just a digital form – get them printed and in an album. I would love to say I would go a step farther and get them scrapbooked too. Well, I can always dream.
I’ve included affiliate links to Amazon for you to find some products easier. I may receive a small commission, but the price is the same for you. It just helps my blog out.
Happy Travels,

Hi Rosemary,
I like the Capture 365 idea! I’ve seen it before around the web and it’s such a cool idea to remember a year through pictures.
I have become very interested in photography since I started blogging, and I’m always looking to improve! And I’m like you too — I’m never in any of our family pics because I’m always behind the camera! I’d love to continue improving and maybe even show up in some pics this year. And I definitely need to do better at printing photos and putting them in albums!
Thanks Erin – I would love to learn how to really use my camera. I know they say to get out and play with it, maybe I will try to do that.
Well, my husband takes the “real” pictures, and I take the iPhone pictures, so I’m in quite a few. However, I wish there was a lightweight and compact camera that works as well as a DSLR.
I would love to get one of the newer cameras that will post pictures directly to FB and sites without having to download. I think that is part of the problem and downloading, editing, posting – such a time consuming process. I know there’s a quicker way, but I just don’t know it.
This is a great post! I just started blogging a few months ago, and I can’t wait to improve my photography skills! I’m trying to break out of point and shoot mode, but it’s tough 🙂 The 365 day challenge would be the perfect motivator.
Thanks Angela – I promise myself that I will learn my camera so I can start some great photography.
I really like your blog.. very nice colors & theme.
Did you create this website yourself or did you hire someone
to do it for you? Plz respond as I’m looking to construct my own blog and would like to know where u got this from.
cheers
Thank you so much for the compliment. I did have it designed for me by Janel but had a general idea of the look and colors I wanted. Here’s her email. She has done several for friends and is prompt and reasonably priced. Tell her I sent you. Janel Hutton [email protected]
