What if I donโt like one of the ingredients?
The great thing about making your own soup is making it your own. Most of the time if you leave out an ingredient, it might not change it up much. If you donโt like kale, you could substitute spinach, but leaving it out wonโt affect the flavor that much.
For sweet potatoes, consider a russet potato or even butternut squash.
What are the best soup toppings?
This really just depends on what you like and enjoy. Youโll find that the best soup toppings will vary from soup to soup, too. I always enjoy a crusty bread with almost any soup.
Some of my favorite soup toppings are:
- Oyster crackers
- Shredded cheese
- Diced onions
- Fresh jalapenos
- Cilantro
And those are just a few! You can easily add in a ton of other toppings and ideas to make your own bowl of soup unique and delicious. Thatโs the best part about toppings โ they change up the flavor!
Iโm thinking the next time I make this I may squeeze a little fresh lemon as I love lemon taste with chicken and wild rice.
How do you store leftover soup?
I have a giant container with a lid that I refer to as my soup container. Once weโre all done eating soup, I let it cool down and then pour it into my container, add the lid, and store it in the fridge.
How do you reheat leftover soup?
The easiest way to reheat soup is to warm it up low and slow in the crockpot. I always do this if I have more than just me eating leftovers.
If itโs just me wanting a single bowl of soup, I donโt see the need to reheat the entire pot. For this purpose, I just scoop out what I want and reheat it in the microwave.
I canโt wait to hear what you think about this simple soup recipe!

That looks so yummy. Nothing beats a good hearty soup, especially when it’s done in the slow cooker. It’s almost like the flavours pop more.
A crockpot is a life saver to me. And for time. People say the food isn’t good in a CP, apparently they aren’t doing my recipes. LOL
This looks delicious. Laura
A great alternative to just chicken noodle soup. Feels heartier to me.
